Bambaata (born Daniel Bambaata Robert Nesta Marley) is a Jamaican singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He is the eldest son of Ziggy Marley and the eldest grandson of Bob Marley, making him a third-generation Marley musician. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, he grew up between Kingston, Miami, and Los Angeles — absorbing reggae, hip-hop, dancehall, rock, blues, and Americana along the way.
A self-described "one-person song machine," Bambaata writes, produces, records, and performs everything himself. From percussion as a child to MPC production, guitar, bass, and keys — his genre-blurring sound fuses roots reggae with alternative, dub, and hip-hop. As he puts it: "I choose to dedicate this life to making conscious music and delivering positive vibes to a global audience."
As a third-generation Marley artist, Bambaata carries forward a legacy that stretches from Robert Nesta "Bob" Marley to Ziggy Marley, and now to him. He shares the family's musical lineage with cousins Skip Marley, Jo Mersa Marley, Yohan Marley, and Selah Marley — each contributing to reggae's continuing global story.
